We believe…
1. In the eternal, equal,
and distinct personality of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and the
unity of the Godhead. Mark 1:10,11; John 14:26,
15:26; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.
2. That the whole Bible
from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, is the result of verbal inspiration by
means of concursus and is the inerrant authority in all matters pertaining to
faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter
1:19-21; 2 Corinthians 2:13; Acts 28:25; Psalms 119:89,105; 119:130,160.
3. In the full Deity of
our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born
of the virgin Mary, His perfect humanity, His substitutionary death, His bodily
resurrection and ascension, His presence at the right hand of God the Father,
His unchanging Priesthood and His future bodily and visible return in Glory.
Hebrews 1:3,8; 5:6; Colossians 2:9; Luke 1:31,35; 1
Peter 2:21-24; Mark 16:19; 13:26; Acts 1:11.
4. In the evil personality
of the devil, the universality and wickedness of sin and the eternal punishment
in hell for the devil and his fallen angels. 1
Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:11,12; Romans 3:23; 7:11-13.
5. In the fallen, sinful
and lost estate of mankind in Adam – their guilt and condemnation – together
with their total depravity, by which they are alienated from God, and are unable
in and of themselves to turn to Him. Genesis 6:5;
Romans 3:9-18; 5:12-19; 8:7,8; Hebrews 11:6; John 1:12,13; 6:44; Ephesians
2:1-10.
6. In the eternal and personal election of sinners unto salvation by God the Father. 2 Timothy 1:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Ephesians 1:4; Romans 8:29,30; 9:21-23.
7. In the redemption of elect sinners by the vicarious sacrifice of Christ. Galatians 2:20; 3:13; Matthew 25:34; John 10:11; 17:2,9; 1 Peter 1:2; 2:24; Revelation 5:9.
8. In justification by grace, through faith, by the imputed righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:24,26,28; 4:2-5; 5:1,9; 8:30.
9. In regeneration and sanctification by the direct agency of the Holy Spirit, through the instrumentality of divine truth. Saving faith is the sovereign and gracious gift of God. John 3:3-7; 2 Corinthians 5:17,18; Ephesians 2:1; 1 Peter 1:23; John 17:17-19; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2; Galatians 3:23-25; Philippians 1:29.
10. In the absolute necessity of a holy life, as the result of true faith and the evidence of regeneration. Romans 6:18-22; 8:5; 13:11-14; 2 Corinthians 6:15-18; Galatians 5:18-25; Ephesians 4:22-24; 1 Corinthians 6:19,20.
11. In the final
perseverance of true believers. John 10:28-29;
17:14; Romans 8:29,30,35-39; Ephesians 5:26,27; 1 Peter 1:4-7.
12. That the preaching of
the Gospel to every creature of the fallen race of Adam is a divine command and
a solemn obligation. Matthew 28:18-20; 24:14; Mark
16:15,16; Romans 10:13-15; John 20:21; Acts 1:8.
13.
That baptism and the Lord’s Supper are of positive and sovereign institution,
appointed by our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew
28:19,20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; Acts 2:37,28,41; 8:36-39; Romans 6:4,5.
14. In the eternal consciousness of the soul, the resurrection of the body, the universal judgement, the everlasting divine fellowship and joy of the redeemed; and the everlasting punishment of unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 5:1,10; Luke 16:22-24; 1 Corinthians 15:43-58; John 5:28,29; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; Revelation 20:11-15.
